His Excellency the
President Maithripala Sirisena,
Democratic
Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka,
I am aware that you dislike you being
addressed as "His Excellency The President" for the reason you want
to be so simple; but we at this crucial moment feel, you should be addressed
the way it should be, always, because at least that gesture will remind you
where you are standing and what you are up to and talking about. Since, in one
of your speeches Your Excellency made at Sri Lanka Foundation Institute, publicly
condemning the actions of Bribery Commission, FCID and the CID, all state
institutions, all under your purview you being the Constitutional Head of the
State - we have been totally baffled on
many accounts of serious nature by that speech.
The way you tuned your remarks on those
institutions, all extended arms of jurisdiction and the Judiciary, you were
virtually threatening those judicial institutions to show impunity towards
certain former members of the Defense system of this Island Nation, under the
label of “War Heroes” and you were thoroughly upset particularly over, the said
institutions summoning the former Navy Chief and former Secretary of Defense,
even for basic inquiries, in the end of which they may be absolved of all charges if those inquiring bodies do
not find anything substantial to proceed with the charging in the courts.
The question here is why you are trying to defend
those former officers –even from a formal inquiry?
What section of the Constitution Your
Excellency undertook to protect and proceed bye, by an Oath on 8th
of January 1915, exonerates the former Chief of Navy and Secretary of Defense
under the label of war heroes or without such a label?
We are totally confused of this your
Excellency,
We are also
baffled up at whom you are calling “War Heroes” isn’t those who encountered the
Guerrilla- War face to face strove under numerous strenuous ground conditions
for years and as a result sacrificed their life or lost the ability to live as
a normal person in his rest of the life, but the men who lived in
air-conditioned room and planned the plundering of State Resources while
propelling the war, to whom the result of the war was only a fortunate end
result – further opportunity of cashing on under the disguise of “war-heroes”.
Nobody is above the law, suppose suspicions arise they have to prove their
innocence before claiming war heroes’ tag- that is the hall mark good
governance!
Is that the
war had been constructed and fought to produce a clan of war heroes with
impunity enabling those to freely kidnap students, demand ransoms,
misappropriate State Funds in multi-Millions and murdering those who lay
obstructing or even opposing to these acts, so that to pigeonhole the program
of cull and defend the religion borne out of the epic of 6th
Century?
Your
Excellency, you preferred to call those two – you badly wanted to exonerate by
their Offices they held, rather than by their name, but I would prefer to call them by their names, since I bore no any obligation to them whatsoever, Vasantha Karunagoda the Rtd.Naval
Chief and the Defense Secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksha whose tenure of both witnessed
with unequivocal ease, kidnappings, ransom
demanding, misappropriation and plundering of State Funds in multi-Millions and
murdering of those who were opposing to these acts and above all interfered the
judiciary system in no uncertain terms, and you want to call them war heroes –
which confers utter shame on real War Heroes who fought it out in the ground
for more than 30 years. Even after part
and partial (or at least not have been cleared of the suspicions) of above
heinous crimes, in order to cover their cowardly acts, – in 2007 constructed
new large boat and ostentatiously claimed that he found the boat that carried
Rev. Sangamithe Bikkuni at the Mathakal Beach about 2000 years ago; and alas that boat had not
undergone any visible erosion or corrosion even after laying in the sea waters
for more than 2000 years and the southerners are made gullible; by this Vasantha
Karunagoda the former Naval Chief under whose tenure naval officers openly
organized kidnapping of students for ransom – and this cover searching monger –
built a Dagoba as well, where the place had been a fishing industrial beach
before the war started and there were not even any ruins that substantiate the
claim of this cover seeking war monger, and earning the displeasure of the local
fishing community, and the hate is installed against the Sinhala Central
Government. Isn’t it farce of a reconciliation?
Is this the
fellow you want to call a “War Hero” and openly threatening the Bribery
Commission, FCID and the CID, not to engage him questioning? Then the world
will know what the forces of Sinhalese Government is up to! If you are calling
him a war hero, Mahavamsa rule the roost – not the constitution your Excellency
You took oath!
Your Excellency, you must
understand that when you came forward to contest the Presidential Election in
2015 and agreed upon with 47 civil societies to change all those – worsening
fraud & corrupt administration and the authoritarian rule that subordinated
the judiciary, all of us, irrespective of ethnicity, cast and creed, worked
hard for your victory that would change all those “Yakkah Palanaya” under the
banner of war victory, by making you only as the President of Democratic
Socialistic Republic of Sri Lanka, and your candidature was able to secure 6.4
Million votes and was bestowed upon the crest of The Executive Sri Lankan
Administrative System so that to change the total authoritarian rule as well as to
prevent the prevailed absolute lawlessness recurring in the future as
well. It is a huge responsibility of yours
only, as you are at the top of the executive and it is you should act against
the plundering and the blunder of present day government as well.
Though the
change has occurred, plundering of public wealth continues, you have not acted
steadfastly enough, to be politically attractive – and now finding fault with
the Inquiring Bodies virtually you appointed with some purpose and conceding to
the ill-conceived claims of “political revenge” by the same magnanimous and
unimaginable wrong doers with corruption at their helm. So that history of
corruption and fraud going to be unchecked under the vulturous masquerade of “war
heroes” or “political revenge”.
We have not
voted you to be a leader of a Political Party, but to be an Executive President
of a country striving to be peaceful, free of corruption& fraud, with
totally independent Judiciary at the moment need of the hour is country before
the Party. You cannot compromise that by taking the side of culprits your former
compatriots for any reason. The inquiring bodies are already under severe
threat –for their commitment towards high profile wrong doers, including the
Drug Trafficking, your admonition of these inquiring bodies, is very much
unwarranted for.
